In January 30 members of WYAC came to Worcestershire History Centre, part of Worcestershire Record Office, to find out what resources can be found at the Record Office to help tell archaeologists about landscape history.
We started off looking at general sources archaeologists can use, before Charlene, one of the archivists, told the members about the records of Croome Court and what they tell us about the landscape.
After splitting into five groups craft material was distributed and they started to create maps of what they thought the Croome Estate would have looked like in 1796, based on documents that we provided.
The five maps produced were very impressive. They were all different in style but managed to capture the main features of the landscape and the style of 18th cenury maps.
For the following month the maps were on display in the History Centre for everyone to see.
